The MSI MAG B460 TOMAHAWK is an ATX form factor motherboard that supports 10th Gen Intel Core and Pentium Gold/Celeron processors for LGA1200 socket. However, onboard graphics output is disabled when using the F SKU processors.
The motherboard is based on the Intel B460 chipset and has four DDR4 memory slots that support up to 128GB of RAM. The supported memory speed depends on the CPU installed. For Intel Core i7/i9 processors, it supports up to DDR4 2933 MHz, while for Intel Core i5 and below, it supports up to DDR4 2666 MHz. It supports dual-channel mode and Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP).
In terms of expansion slots, it has one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E1) that supports x16 mode and one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E3) that supports x4 mode. Additionally, there are two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. Note that the PCI_E3 slot will be unavailable when installing an M.2 SSD in the M2_2 slot.
The motherboard provides HDMI and DisplayPort outputs for onboard graphics, with maximum resolutions of 4096×2160 @30Hz and 4096×2304 @60Hz, respectively.
For storage, the motherboard features six SATA 6Gb/s ports and two M.2 slots. M2_1 supports PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA 6Gb/s, while M2_2 supports PCIe 3.0 x4. The M2_2 slot is also Intel Optane Memory Ready. Note that when using an M.2 SATA SSD in the M2_1 slot, SATA1 will be unavailable, and when installing an M.2 SSD in the M2_2 slot, PCI_E3 will be unavailable.
The motherboard supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10 for SATA storage devices.
In terms of USB connectivity, it has six USB 3.2 Gen 1 5Gbps ports (four Type-A ports on the back panel and two ports through an internal connector), one USB 3.2 Gen 1 5Gbps Type-C port (internal connector), and six USB 2.0 ports (two Type-A ports on the back panel and four ports through internal connectors). Additionally, there is a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 20Gbps Type-C port on the back panel.
The audio is powered by the Realtek ALC1200 codec, providing 7.1-channel high-definition audio with S/PDIF output.
Networking is handled by a Realtek RTL8125B 2.5Gbps LAN controller and an Intel I219V 1Gbps LAN controller.
The motherboard includes various internal connectors, such as power connectors, SATA connectors, USB connectors, fan connectors, audio connectors, and LED connectors. It also has a TPM module connector and a Clear CMOS jumper.
On the back panel, you’ll find a PS/2 combo port, DisplayPort, 1G LAN port, 2.5G LAN port, HD audio connectors, USB ports (including USB 2.0 and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C), an optical S/PDIF out port, and the EZ LED Control switch.
Other features include EZ Debug LED, NUVOTON NCT6687 Controller Chip for I/O control, and hardware monitoring capabilities for temperature and fan speed.
The motherboard uses UEFI AMI BIOS with features like ACPI 6.2 and SM BIOS 3.2, supporting multiple languages.
